Songbirds - PA's Finest Songwriters

Join us for a lovely night with some of Pennsylvania’s finest songwriters. Having collaborated with some of folk and americana’s best from Carsie Blanton to the Wood Brothers, these four will be bringing their songs to the opera house for an incredibly intimate show to kick off the summer season.

Brittany Ann Tranbaugh (pronounced TRAN-baw) is a Pennsylvania songwriter whose work combines Shania-esque hooks with a storytelling prowess reminiscent of John Prine and Lucinda Williams. Since quitting her day job in 2023, she has played over 300 shows including five national tours opening for her mentor and collaborator Carsie Blanton. Accolades include Song of the Year in the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, 1st place in the 2025 Songwriter Serenade Contest, and a 2026 American Songwriter Magazine holiday song contest win. No Depression Magazine named her a “Queer Country Artist to Watch in 2026.” Listeners can expect her debut LP Lucky Broke Girl, crowdfunded with the help of over 400 fans and recorded in Philly with her band and producer Nick Krill, in August 2026.

Chris Kasper is an American songwriter who is currently based in the Philadelphia area. He’s been active in the local and national scene for the last 20 years. Over that time, he has released seven records and toured with acts like Amos Lee and The Wood Brothers. His music traverses the Americana, country blues, indie folk and vintage rock spectrums, blurring the lines between genres. Kasper's evolution into a no-nonsense songwriter is heard throughout his latest album, with nods to songwriters of the 70s like Bobby Charles, Lowell George, and Neil Young.

Travis Hobbie is a seasoned songwriter whose moniker William H. Travis is for a person and sometimes a group of friends from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, who, when not elsewhere called, by work and errands and family and friends, convene under the umbrella of such a name. Their songs are crafted as to hopefully appeal to cats. The lyrics and music are equal parts undiagnosed depression and unhinged joy. He is a prominent figure in the Lehigh Valley music scene, frequently performing at local venues like the Gap Theatre, Godfrey Daniels, and the Ice House in Bethlehem.

Birdie Busch makes and records music from her homebase of Philadelphia. Critics from American Songwriter to Village Voice have found her of kindred spirit from everyone from Syd Barrett to Eudora Welty, referring to what she does as her own thing and appreciating that strange place where it resides. It’s this comfort to contain multitudes that has had her and her band sharing stages with everyone from Richard Thompson and Janis Ian to Dr.Dog and Sun Ra Arkestra. She recently put out her latest full length, Night Blooming, this Spring.
