Deep in the woods of Northern New Jersey, The Outcrops have emerged as a force to be reckoned with. This tight-knit group of musicians weaves together the soulful sounds of blues, the infectious rhythms of funk and soul, and the electrifying energy of rock'n'roll, creating a sonic experience that had them named "Band of the Year" (Aquarian, 2020).
At the core of The Outcrops are the dynamic duo of Bryan Schroeder and Cassidy Rain. Bryan, with his searing lead guitar, effortlessly weaves intricate melodies that fall somewhere between the soulful prowess of Derek Trucks and the transcendent vibes of Jerry Garcia. Cassidy brings real and raw powerhouse vocals that fans have compared to artists like Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, & Grace Potter, as well as her rhythmic guitar work that is in constant conversation with the band.
The Outcrops play music with heart. They have dug their roots into the music of rock'n'roll, blues, funk, and soul legends. Within their show, they often pay homage to artists such as BB King and Aretha Franklin, and bands such as The Grateful Dead and The Band. Their original music stems from that same soulful soil, ranging from gritty blues to upbeat Americana. The Outcrops just recently won the North Jersey Blues Society's Blues Challenge, and will be headed to the official IBC in Memphis in 2026.
Opener Debra Devi
Live, Debra leads “a ferocious guitar-driven band equally adept at sprawling psychedelic jams and terse soulful rockers.” (NY Music Daily). Her core band is Kevin Jones on bass and John Roccesano on drums, plus a rotating crew of gifted keyboardists, including Rob Clores (Jesse Malin), Andy Burton (LIttle Steven, Cyndi Lauper) and Matt Wade (Samantha Fish).
Debra's growing acclaim as "one of the most remarkable guitarists on the East Coast" (Good Times) has led to festival dates from Memphis to Montana. She endorses Homestead Amplifiers, which builds custom amps for Gov’t Mule, Gary Clark Jr. and Jimmy Herring. She's opened for Joan Osborne, Jesse Malin, Ana Popovic, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Joe Louis Walker and Marshall Crenshaw.
As a solo artist, Debra created a classic blues/rock sound that enables her to indulge her love of the guitar. “I think people are starved for real, live music – to experience that spontaneous magic,” Debra says. “I hope to deliver that magic with every record and performance.”
